Synopsis

When the director of Madrid's prestigious Prado Museum learns that its most famous painting, Goya's The Nude Maja, is a forgery, he turns to David Croft, world-renowned art historian, to find the original. The 1800 painting was controversial at its inception and now, more than two hundred years later, it has again become the center of attention. Croft's task is not an easy one. Spain's ruthless Basque terrorist organization, ETA, is after the painting for the money it can bring, while Japan's wealthy art patron, Ishii Tanaka, is determined to add the painting to his eclectic collection.
