by Mary Jo Teele Reed

Synopsis

A Biography of Maxine Teele, Iowa Quilter

Maxine Teele was a master quilter as well as an historian, judge, author, and teacher. She was well known in the national quilting community, although she lived all her life in Iowa. She designed the majority of the seventy quilts that she made, making both applique and pieced for family and friends. Her quilts have been shown all over the country: Denver, Washington, D.C., Paducah, Kentucky, Lowell, MA, and others.

The book includes short biographical sketches of Cuesta Benberry, Joyce Gross, Mary Schafer, and Florence Peto who were friends of Maxine's, as well as inductees into the Quilters Hall of Fame.

The book is 134 pages, full color with over fifty professionally taken photographs of her quilts. It was written by her daughter. After reading the book, Cuesta Benberry told the daughter, "It is the type of book only a daughter could write."
