Economics Came From Somewhere by Craig Boulton
Synopsis
Keynes, Ricardo, Schumpeter, Etc in a Living Context
This book touches base with most of the common economic principles taught to undergraduates, including the basic Keynesian Model and why it doesn't work to explain economic growth, and Schumpeter's model explaining the importance of entrepreneurs to obtaining economic growth – which usually isn't taught. Along the way it brings these principles to life by illustrating them at work in daily life and through observed historical economic behavior that economists have used to formulate them based on how people actually function in free marketplaces. This is an excellent book for average people and students who want a basic understanding of how economics work without all the jargon and tedious prose used in many books on economics. In this book, the author refreshingly writes as if he's explaining the subject over a couple of beers in a pub.
