Our Footsteps in the Sand by Ewell Stewart duPont
Synopsis
The poetry and prose of Ewell Stewart DuPont are inspired and informed by a lifetime of emotions and events few have experienced. Her words cry out with expression, insight, and a vulnerability that will have readers engaged from first page to last.
In this debut collection of her work, entitled Our Footsteps in the Sand, the poet streams together delicious images of life and loss, joy and heartache, achievement and the lack thereof, not to mention a generous portion devoted to expressing the essential spirit of positive human values. Her theme is enlightenment, and she this through personal reminiscence as well as through vivid visual imagery.
"This is a book about my life and the people in my life – my parents, Henry and Ewell Stewart. My mother, Ewell Sale Stewart, was an assistant editor of Ladies Home Journal and Cosmopolitan magazines who also did modeling and photography. She was an extremely accomplished writer and journalist. My father, Henry Bowdle Stewart, owned Henry Stewart Company, established in 1905 and still going strong today, and painted oil tankers. Though both are gone now, they are mainly responsible for my ideals, standards, beliefs, and great love and appreciation of God, man, animals, sunrises, sunsets, the earth, and life in general – all of which are in this book."
From the opening, appealing poem "Now Is Your Time" to the final provocative piece of prose, "A Sailing Voyage to Bermuda," the writing of Ewell Stewart DuPont is sure to delight one's senses and propel one's imagination.
