Synopsis

It is the character, not only survives, but learns how to thrive and to help make some of her family's dreams come true. Most of all, this is a love story. It's about Liz's love for her family, her friends, and her first boyfriend, Mike who becomes a successful basketball player.

Author Biography

Margaret Clark

Mrs. Clark said she drew heavily on her own childhood experiences while writing this novel. Mrs. Clark grew up in a small apartment in Maryland shared by 21 people. She went to work at the age of eleven to help support her family. Like Liz, the main character in this book, Mrs. Clark managed to escape the poverty of her childhood, receive an education, become a successful businesswoman, and help her family break the cycle of poverty. This is her first novel.
