Synopsis
Maxine Teele was a master quilter as well as an historian,
judge, author, and teacher. She was well known in the national quilting community, although she lived all her life in Iowa. She designed the
majority of the seventy quilts that she made, making both applique and pieced for family and friends. Her quilts have been shown all over the
country: Denver, Washington, D.C., Paducah, Kentucky, Lowell, MA, and others.
The book includes short biographical sketches of Cuesta
Benberry, Joyce Gross, Mary Schafer, and Florence Peto who were friends of Maxine's, as well as inductees into the Quilters Hall of Fame.
The book is 134 pages, full color with over fifty professionally
taken photographs of her quilts. It was written by her daughter. After reading the book, Cuesta Benberry told the daughter, "It is the type of book
only a daughter could write."

Mary Jo Teele Reed
Mary Jo Teele Reed is a retired high school English teacher
who lives in Muscatine, IA. She wrote the biography of her mother with help and encouragement from such quilt notables as Cuesta Benberry
and Mary Schafer who were good friends of her mother's. This is her first book.
